Proteus mirabilis Coraliform Lithiasis and Bacteremia: A Clinical Microbiology Case Study

This brief case report describes Proteus mirabilis causing coraliform (staghorn) renal calculi and subsequent bacteremia in an elderly catheterized patient. The case illustrates the well-known but clinically important association between urease-producing organisms, struvite stone formation, and urinary tract-associated bloodstream infections in chronically catheterized patients.
